In the 1930s, people made due with what they had not because it was fashionable, but because it was essential. Out of that early necessity was born a conservation ethic that lives on to this day. Happily, our attempts at reinvention have proven to be both fashionable and essential, as in our Lower East Side Museum Table. Carved from a quartersawn block of reclaimed barn wood, the heavily grained surface is custom-finished to enhance its individual variations. The simple shape rests boldly atop an interlaced, flatfascia timber base, creating a strikingly contemporary design. A handsome backdrop for magazines or a laptop, the flexible cocktail height slab also doubles as an informal display space.
