But as intoxicating as the style may be, it takes a true craftsman to properly execute it. Ours improved several prototypes before arriving at this, our impressive Mission Archive Panel Bed. Carved from a single slab of hand-polished Maple, the channel-set edge of the head and footboard is seemingly sandwiched between two meticulously carved outer layers. Each inset rectangle follows the identical technique, sharing the exact dimensions, miters and tipped-edge finish. Designed to capture interest as light moves over the piece, this contemporary showpiece is a proud example of centuries-old American handicraft.
